THE GAGE EDWARDS MEMORIAL (GEM) FOUNDATION

Home Page

The Gage Edwards Memorial (GEM) Foundation was born in August 2012, just short of the 1st Anniversary of his death. Thanks to God, Gage, and with the inspiration of an amazing group of family, friends, and the community in which we live, we are honored to have the chance to pay forward all of the kindnesses that were paid to us. This organization is dedicated to Gage and them.

Our Mission Statement: This organization is established for the purposes of providing funding for funeral and burial costs of children ages 0-20 to needy families who lack the means to do so themselves or with out putting a substantial burden on their finances. It will also provide funding for the Gage Edwards Memorial Scholarship to the Outstanding Male Athlete of the Year Award at Manchester HS in Midlothian, VA.

Our Goal: To start helping people right here in our own communities, and then be able to spread in aiding the state of Virginia and beyond.

Our Hope: To lose a child is pain beyond comprehension. Our biggest hope is that we will be able to ease at least one burden from grieving families. We know their sorrow.

I'll Lend You For A While A Child Of Mine
By: Edgar Guest
Dedicated to all parents who have lost a child

"I'll lend you for a while a child of mine," He said.
"For you to love the while he lives and mourn for when he's dead.
It may be six or seven years, or twenty-two or three,
But will you, till I call him back, take care of him for me?
He'll bring his charms to gladden you, and should his stay be brief,
You'll have his lovely memories as solace for your grief."

"I cannot promise he will stay; since all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there I want this child to learn.
I've looked the wide world over in My search for teachers true
And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes I have chosen you.
Now will you give him all your love, not think the labor vain,
Nor hate Me when I come to call to take him back again?"

"I fancied that I heard them say, "Dear Lord, Thy will be done!
For all the joy Thy child shall bring, the risk of grief we run.
We'll shelter him with tenderness, we'll love him while we may,
And for the happiness we've known, forever grateful stay;
But should the angels call for him much sooner than we've planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes and try to understand!"
